The Phoenix theatre, www.PhoenixTheatre.org is a great theater and one worthy of checking out. It should by no means play second fiddle to some of the other more well-known theaters in the Valley such as ASU Gammage or the Herberger Theater.
The Actors are it’s strength
As far as the local theater goes, The Phoenix Theatre definitely holds its own in one of the most important parts of any play, it’s actors. The caliber of the actors at this theater is top notch. These actors would certainly hold their own in any of the major theaters in the city. While they are all great, Kate Haas stole the show in the latest production of Twist Your Dickens and is someone worth seeing before the show ends later this month.
The Phoenix Theatre – The Venue
The theatre itself is a great venue. It’s building may not have been designed by Frank Lloyd Wright but the space is set up in such a way as to provide an intimate setting for those in the audience. Because of this there is not a bad seat in the house, which makes you truly feel part of the show. The theater has two main stages, a larger and smaller stage. It is currently showing Billy Elliot on the main stage and Twist Your Dickens is on the second stage.
The theater has a fully equipped bar with any cocktail you can imagine, so get there early or make sure you head there during intermission. There is also a nice outdoor garden area which makes you forget you are in the city, and a snack bar. Tickets are very reasonable reasonably priced and there is even free parking.
If it’s not enough that you’re going to see a great show at a great price you will also support local theater which in turn supports the community. The actors at The Phoenix Theatre volunteer their time at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital entertaining children and making them laugh. You’ll have an opportunity to be part of that as well if you’d like just by seeing a show at the theater.
In my opinion this is a great theater to check out. With wonderful actors, an intimate setting, great amenities, and well-known shows it is surely and experience you won’t soon forget so what are you waiting for? Head to The Phoenix Theatre today.
